3 CUPS FLOUR
1 CUP SUGAR
3/4 CUP BUTTERMILK
2 EGGS
2 TBSP. SHORTENING
2 TSP. BAKING POWDER
1 TSP. BAKING SODA
1 TSP. SALT
1/2 TSP. NUTMEG
 
MIX 1 1/2 CUPS OF FLOUR AND
REMAINING INGREDIENTS IN LARGE
BOWL. BEAT FOR APPROX. 1 MINUTE.
STIR IN REMAINING FLOUR TO MAKE
SOFT DOUGH. PLACE IN COOLER, ON
ICE, FOR AT LEAST 1 HOUR.
 
ON WELL FLOURED SURFACE ROLL
DOUGH TO ABOUT 1/2” THICK WITH
WELL FLOURED ROLLING PIN.
HEAT OIL TO 370* DEGREES “F” AND
COOK UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN
(TURNING OFTEN).
